Dear Dr. Starr:
Today we are mailing to you a letter urging prompt action, in time for implementation for the Autumn 2012 semester, of the recommendations made last year by the Board's Citizens Advisory Committee on Family Life and Human Development (CAC). For your convenience, attached to this e-mail are PDFs of the letter, the attachments, and a document that contains both the letter and the attachments. As the letter more fully explains, recent developments surrounding the PFOX fliers demonstrate the urgency and necessity of this simple step.
Recently, we were invited to speak with the Montgomery County Government's Commission on Children and Youth about issues concerning LGBT students in our community. We met with the Commission last night, and our presentation was warmly received. The Commission does not meet again until June, at which time we are informed that the Commission will have before it a formal proposal to vote to support prompt adoption of the CAC recommendations. In the meantime, MCPS staff members who are members of the Commission urged us to send a copy of this letter to MCPS Department of Student Services Director Brenda Wilks, and we are doing so via this e-mail.
Thank you for your consideration.
David S. Fishback, Advocacy Chair, Metro DC PFLAG
Stephanie Kreps, Director and Founder, Rainbow Youth Alliance

Dr. Brenda Wilks, Director, MCPS Department of Student Services
